ENKEI RACING HISTORY
In 1986 Enkei actively became involved in motors ports by supplying 3-piece wheels to the F1 team, Minardi. In 1995 Enkei became an official sponsor for Vodafone McLaren Mercedes which took championships home in 1998 and 1999. Enkei also supplies wheels to Mitsubishi Ralliart, which competes in the World Rally Championship (WRC), The team won 4 consecutive championships from 1996 through 1999 and now in 2008. Enkei also supplies wheels to teams that race in the Japan GT Championship, Super Taikyu & Drifting events.

All Enkei wheels are engineered to pass rigorous testing. In fact, Enkei established its own test standard called “Spec-E,” which is tougher than JWL requirements. Enkei’s Spec-E test setting requires a higher drop point in the impact test and 20% more cycles for the rotary bending fatigue and dynamic radial fatigue tests than JWL standards. The Spec-E represents Enkei’s confidence in its technology and quality of Enkei wheels.
Enkei’s MAT processes make wheels strong and anti-flex. All MAT wheels are extremely strong and lightweight which allows the car to accelerate faster, more efficient braking which in turn allows you the driver to drive smoother and faster.

TECHNOLOGY

In racing there are no compromises and the passion to maximize performance is never ending. Enkei’s involvement at the highest levels of competition enables our engineers to apply their technology to the ultimate test. Direct from the racetrack to the street, M.A.T. Technology features forged processes at a lower cost.

RIM-ROLLED FORGED TECHNOLOGY

Enkei developed a new manufacturing process to produce the next aluminum wheel generation. The Most Advanced Technology (M.A.T) combines one-piece cast wheel technology with a rim forming technology called spinning process. Using this new technology of casting and rim forming by M.A.T process, is critical to improve drastically the material property and strength of the wheels. Rim-Rolled technology shapes the rim to improve material elongation withoutsacrificing the wheels hardness.

MAT MICRO STRUCTURE
The M.A.T process, has a drastic impact on the micro structure of aluminum and result In outstanding improvement of the mechanical property of the material. The process of spinning the rim allows Metal Flow in the rim part, which resemble the property obtained from forging process. The control of the metal flow in the rim section result in finer molecular structure without sacrificing the wheels strength and rigidity.

MAT FORMED
Following the high performance trend every year, tires and wheels are getting larger year after year. In order to reduce weight under a vehicle's suspension, it is important to reduce the wheel weight. The M.A.T process improves the mechanical property of the rim section by shaving the rim's thickness and therefore reducing wheel weight by 10% to 15% therefore reducing the overall vehicle weight by 20 lbs.

HST SPECIAL CASTING SYSTEM
Wheels designed with Enkei's HST Special Casting System are hollowed spoked for crisp and precise handling. Hollow spokes are bend resistant so the driver receives direct response in turns.

CAST PROCESS

Precision casting technology mintains superior wheel integrity while keeping the wheel lightweight and strong
